FOUR SEASONS OF PAINTING AT POPLAR HILL MANSION
February 8th at 12:00. Come to a fun new event as we do Painting at Poplar Hill Mansion! Thanks in part to a grant from the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council and the Maryland Arts Council, Poplar Hill Mansion will start to host an afternoon of painting during each of the four seasons. The second class will take place on February 8th. This class will feature Jessica Schlegel as the instructor. She is the proprietor of J.L. Schlegel Art and specializes in watercolors . She has been featured in numerous galleries around the Eastern Shore. This class is designed for beginners and should take about 3 hours. All supplies needed are included. SWEETHEART TEA
February 13th at 12:00. Come enjoy one of our most popular teas of the year, the Sweetheart Tea. The menu will include Tomato Bisque, Cucumber Sandwiches, Pimento Cheese Sandwiches, Cheesy Shrimp Canapes, Prosciutto and Parmesan Palmiers, Cherry Chocolate Chip Scones with jam and clotted cream, Strawberry Sandwiches (Sandos), Chocolate Eclairs, Red Velvet Cookies, and of course Lady Grey Tea. BOOGIE BACK TO THE 70s TEA
April 10th at 12:00. Come to Poplar Hill Mansion for a special tea as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary as a museum with this themed tea featuring the 1970s. Menu includes Cheese Fondue Soup, Cucumber Sandwiches, Ham Salad Sandwiches, Quiche Loraine, Chicken and Mushroom Vol au Vents, Tropical Pineapple Scones, Banana Chip Bars, Rainbow Jello Bars, Mini Black Forest Cakes, and Russian Tea. POPLAR HILL MANSION FESTIVAL: CELEBRATING OVER 200 YEARS OF HISTORY
May 4th from 12:00-4:00. Come to the award-winning Annual Poplar Hill Mansion Festival as we celebrate the Federal Period history of Salisbury! The day long festival will include War of 1812 re-enactors: Chesapeake Independent Blues, period music, period dancing from the Dover Dancers, educational displays from local nonprofits and historical societies, a children’s activity area with crafts and games, and a May Pole to celebrate May Day. There will also be a Market Square with vendors selling handcrafted items. It’s sure to be a fun filled day! Tours of Poplar Hill Mansion will also be available throughout the day and volunteers will be wearing period dress. This is a FREE event with parking located in the Bethesda Methodist Church parking lot on the corner of Division St. and Isabella St. in the Newtown Neighborhood.

50th ANNIVERSARY GROOVY GLAM GALA
June 14th at 5:00. The Friends of Poplar Hill Mansion requests the pleasure of your company at our anniversary gala. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5pm. You’re cordially invited to share a night of disco inspired golden glitz and glam at Poplar Hill Mansion. Enjoy drinks, dinner, and dancing while supporting a worthwhile cause and celebrating 50 years of Poplar Hill Mansion as a museum. Cost TBD. BYOP PARTY AT POPLAR HILL
July 19th from 12:00-3:00. Don’t worry about beach traffic and join us for an afternoon of sunshine, laughter, and splashing good times as we transform our backyard into a wet and wild wonderland! Bring your favorite inflatable pool, water toys, and floats to create a one-of-a-kind, personalized pool party experience. This unique event encourages community fun and creativity, allowing you to: Set up your own inflatable pool to cool off and relax; Enjoy friendly competitions of cornhole, family friendly ax throwing, and other outdoor games; Delight in refreshing treats and drinks to beat the summer heat; and Socialize with friends and fellow pool party enthusiasts. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen, towels, chairs and snacks to make the most of this unforgettable afternoon. Get ready for a splash-tastic time at our Bring Your Own Pool Party – where the fun is all up to you! This is a FREE family friendly event, but donations are welcome and strongly encouraged. Dogs are welcome! All children MUST be accompanied by and adult. All participants must sign a waiver when they check-in releasing Poplar Hill Mansion, the City of Salisbury, and the Friends of Poplar Hill Mansion from any and all liabilities.

HALLOWEEN PARTY
October 24th at 7:00. Come to one of our most popular events of the year! Spend Halloween weekend in a real haunted house for a fun filled party at Poplar Hill Mansion! This year we have Nicole doing Tarot Card Readings and Lori doing Pendulum Readings in our Parlor! We are also have our Ghoulish Game Room where you can play BOOllete, Trick or Treat Twenty-one, Wheel of Terror, and Dreadful Drinko to win prizes. Prize for best costume, see the house fully decorated in creepy elegance, dance the night away with Halloween favorites like the limbo, outdoor movie on our jumbo screen, light refreshments, and storytelling from Andy Nunez, paranormal expert extraordinaire and author of the Ghosts of the Eastern Shore series. Suggested donation of $5.00 per person at the door. No RSVP required. Adult audience only, for ages +18 and over. No actual money is exchanged during the games; it is for fun and entertainment purposes only.
STORYTIME AT THE MANSION
October 25th at 11:00-12:00. Bring the kids to Poplar Hill Mansion and join Karen Earp, from the Wicomico County Library, Paul Sarbanes Branch, for Storytime at the Mansion. We’ll be reading a story, singing songs, and have an activity for the children to take with them. Stay afterwards for our Jack O’Lantern Jubilee and make a day out of brining the kids to the FREE events at PHM!
JACK O’ LANTERN JUBILEE
October 25th at 12:00-2:00. Bring the kids to Poplar Hill Mansion to what has become a guest favorite to have fun this Halloween! Join us for our Jack O’ Lantern Jubilee! See the Mansion fully decorated for Halloween! We will have kid’s games with prizes, paint your own pumpkin, kid’s costume parade with prizes for best costumes in three divisions (Newborn-5 year old, 6-10, and 11+), and some other fun surprises. This is a free event. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hot dog meals will be available for $3.00 and include a hot dog, bag of chips, and can of soda or bottle of water.
Edgar Allen Poe: Master of Terror
Date TBD at 7:00. The Community Players will present Edgar Allan Poe: Master of Terror, a show featuring memorized, word-for-word telling of The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, and The Black Cat, as well as a special presentation of W.W. Jacobs’ story, The Monkey’s Paw. The show is Rated PG-13. Tickets are $10 per person, cash or check. Reservations are strongly encouraged, since space is limited to 50 people. YULETIDE OPEN HOUSE
December 7th from 11:00-4:00. Come to Poplar Hill Mansion and get in the holiday spirit. See the beautiful floral decorations by the Four Seasons Garden Club. Visit the second floor to see Christmas trees with over 1500 ornaments and more. There will be silent auction items to help raise funds for the Friends of PHM. Home for the Holiday Tea Boxes with Gourmet Tea Pyramid, Scones and Cookies will be available for purchase for $10.00. Admission is free and includes a small cookie bag for each guest.
TEA WITH SANTA AND MRS. CLAUS
December 13th from 12:00-3:00. Why go wait in line at the mall to see Santa, when he will be at Poplar Hill Mansion! Bring your children or grandchildren to have peppermint tea, punch, and assorted sweets and have a visit and picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Photos mailed to your home address. See the house fully decorated for the Holiday Season. Cost: $5.00 per mailing address.
